Everything Happens for A Reason (My Personal Philosophy) | What I Learned While On the Road This Week
Who the hell likes it when their plans are rudely interrupted by some lousy unscheduled volcanic eruption(s)?! No one, I guess, except the layabouts escaping from responsibility. But for the European mega-busy set this past weekend and week, there was likely a small hillock of alcohol and drugs consumed due to the anxiety attacks of not being as busy as they normally are. Shrinks are likely going to soon witness a spur in sessions booked as the chronically organized search for a deeper meaning in the morass which was the EU’s airspace lockdown.
In my case, being stuck on the road for a couple of days, as I’d related to some friends of mine recently, was a sublime opportunity to see stuff, do stuff, and travel along at a pace which I’m not accustomed to.
These were some of my random reflections that popped to mind as I was hopelessly stranded in Switzerland, and then onward into Central Europe by train…
10 Things to Do With Your Time While You’re Hopelessly Stranded in Central Europe As Icelandic Volcanoes Freely Spew Their Vile Ash Clouds Across the Continent
It took me almost forever to come up with a post topic today, such was the nature of my road-weary predicament.
For the past three days, I’ve been grounded in Switzerland as I scramble for a way the heck outta’ Dodge, back to the cobbled confines of the Golden Burg (aka Prague). Thankfully, in my particular case, I can prostrate myself beneath the statue of William Tell (or the Swiss Chocolate Gods) for the good fortune of actually finding myself in as fine a place as Switzerland. Here, I can boast of good weather, good infrastructure, and some pretty damn fine services. Lookit, things could be a whole lot worse…
So without further ado, here’s your Top 10 List:
All Hail the “Youth Captain:” Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s Heir Apparent
The “Youth Captain.” So what do you think? Catchy new moniker for North Korea’s heir apparent, Kim Jong-un or out-and-out insipid?
What with both the Great and Dear Leader honoraria already bestowed upon the late Kim Il-sung and son Kim Jong-il, respectively — coupled with the fact that the “Young General” title has already been snatched up by Kim Jong-nam, the DPRK’s heir presumptive — “Youth Captain” seems just about as good as any, I suppose. Wonder what special powers and funky weapons they’ll be kitting the 27 year-old out with? Captain America has a flying saucer-like indestructible shield with those fists of fury. So what will the youngest Kim have? Will we even fear and loathe him? (Doesn’t he look mysteriously similar to the young Pol Pot?)
PODCAST: Yet Another Reason for the Chinese to Hate Foreigners?
Have a listen to something which happened during a recent visit to Bern, Switzerland that really set me off. Do you think this is perhaps another reason why the Chinese have their doubts about we so-called “foreign devils?” Curious to know your thoughts.
